Baker Days Gluten Free Easter Letterbox Cake Review and Giveaway

This week I have been lucky enough to review a personalised gluten free Easter letterbox cake from Baker Days.

Baker Days have a lovely selection of cake designs on their website, from birthday, mother’s day, Easter to sorry and One Direction cakes! Almost all designs can be personalised making them a quick and easy option for a special occasion. You can just choose the design, select the flavour, add your personalisation and bingo! – the cake it on its way. You can even choose next day delivery if you order before 2pm. I chose standard delivery and the cake arrived within two working days – I was pretty impressed!

When the box arrived I must admit I was doubtful as to whether the cake would be in one piece – it’s hard to believe that something as fragile as a cake could survive the postal system! However, I found the box had been neatly wedged in our letterbox by our lovely postman so hadn’t fallen to the floor anyway. The box was made from thick cardboard so I think this offered a fair amount of protection. In addition to this, I was delighted to discover that the cake comes in its own beautiful tin to keep it safe on its travels.

The letterbox cake I sampled was a five inch cake, and serves 3-4. I think these would be quite generous sized portions as we managed to get around six small portions out of the cake when we tried it.

The design was beautiful and turned out better than I expected – I’m so impressed that something personalised arrived so quickly! The gluten free cake tasted good too – a lovely light sponge which didn’t taste ‘gluten free’ – if you’re gluten free too then you’ll know what I mean! It was reassuring, though, that the full ingredients were listed on the inside of the box so I could double-check that the cake was gluten free (and for any other allergens) before I tucked in!

The only downside to the Baker Days personalised gluten free letterbox cake was the additional cost to make the cake gluten free – I know gluten free goods tend to cost a bit more but I thought the £4 supplement to make a five inch cake gluten free was a little steep. The cake was delicious though so I wouldn’t rule out ordering another!

Baker Days are offering one lucky Pondering Parenthood reader (in the UK and Ireland) the chance to win a free personalised letterbox cake in the design and flavour of your choice! You can enter via the Rafflecopter below. Good luck!

I love that they do gluten free! I’ve seen a lot about these cakes but thought coeliac ruled me out of being able to buy one – will definitely have to give a GF one a try, especially if it doesn’t taste gluten free! #KCACOLS
