Last weekend, we were lucky enough to be invited along to the Wheatfen Nature Reserve, around eight miles Southeast of Norwich, to have a complimentary mini family photo shoot with Beth, of Beth Moseley Photography. I’m always moaning that I’m never in any photographs as I’m always the one taking them, and in my 18 goals for 2018, I vowed to get in front of the camera more. Well, this photo shoot was the perfect opportunity to do just that!
I was really quite nervous about the whole thing as, frankly, I generally hate photographs of myself. I always think that I look too gawky, too fat, too thin…I’m hyper critical. So I was nervous that I was not only going to be having my photo taken, but also that I would be writing this review. I mean, what if I hated all of the photos? How awkward would that be?!
Fortunately, Beth is lovely and we all got on like a house on fire almost immediately. M conveniently* decided that she didn’t want to look at the camera, or stand anywhere near her daddy, which presented something of a challenge for Beth from the off. However, undeterred, Beth soon had M looking for the mouse in her camera and shouting, “silly sausages!”
Wheatfen Nature Reserve is absolutely beautiful. We had never visited (or even heard of) it before, so it was a lovely opportunity to visit somewhere new. It provided the most stunning backdrop for our photographs, as you can see. Beth made sure to get a mixture of photographs of us all together, and in different pairings and groups. We had some shots which were directed by Beth, and others where we just chatted and she snapped away.
I was really impressed with how quickly Beth edited our photos. She had told us that we’d receive them in around two to three weeks, but Beth had actually edited them all and sent us the link to her online gallery inside seven days. Included in the £100 fee for the mini shoot, are five digital images chosen by you from the online gallery. I’d be lying if I said that I liked them all (the case of the quadruple chin strikes again!), but we had around twenty that we loved. I’m not sure how I’d be able to narrow it down to just five. If you’re like me and would want more than five, then you’re able to purchase them from Beth for an additional £30 per image. This is for the digital file, which you are able to reproduce as many times as you like. That’s the parents’ Christmas presents sorted!
I’m so happy with the photographs that Beth created for us – so happy, in fact, that I’ve changed my Facebook profile picture and header photo for the first time since our wedding photos in 2015! High praise indeed. I’m also planning to get some printed and frame them for a little family photo wall. I’ve been saying almost since B was born that I’d love to have a family photo shoot. I was planning to wait until B was walking, as I think it would give us a greater variety of shots (and more interaction between M and B), but I’m so pleased that we have these photographs to capture us all together, just starting out as a family of four.
I’ve emailed Beth and asked her about alternative locations, as at the moment her website only offers Wheatfen Nature Reserve. She’s said that she’d definitely be open to offering other locations, and would be interested in trying a more urban location, too. We’ve been so happy with the photographs from this shoot, that we’d definitely consider hiring Beth to capture another set of photographs for us in the future.
*not conveniently at all!
