Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.
I don’t really feel like we’ve done much this week! I think sometimes when you’re on maternity leave or are a stay at home mum, it can feel a bit like all of the weeks are carbon copies of one another, and the days just roll into one. Especially when children thrive on routine! Looking back through the photographs I’ve taken during the week reminds me that we have done things; they just might not be as exciting or unusual as things that we’ve done in other weeks.
That doesn’t mean that they’re not fun, though. This week we took a lovely trip to the park, where I introduced M to the delights of hopscotch and played on a slide with her. I think it was the first time I’ve been down a slide with her, as I was pretty pregnant with B by the time M became willing to go anywhere near the top of a slide, so I was quite frankly physically incapable of fitting in the little gap to get up there with her! While a trip to the play park might not sound like the most thrilling activity, we had a really lovely time and made some special memories. This week’s photo of M is her on the boat at the park. It’s not the most artistic photo and it was taken on my phone, but I like it because it reminds me of our time there.
As for B, she has really ramped up the smiling this week. Every smile feels so special. There’s something about baby smiles. B’s smiles shine out through her eyes and seem full of such joy! Again, my photograph of her isn’t particularly amazing but it does capture one of her little smiles. I was snapping away trying to capture them, but I couldn’t get the angles right to take the perfect photo as she was in her bouncy chair. So this one will just have to do! I’ll try harder next week, I promise!
This week we’ve got a couple of toddler classes booked in to keep us busy and we’re meeting up with some mummy friends and their toddlers, which should be fun. I love watching M interacting with her little friends, something that I need to arrange more of for her (and me, so that I can have some adult conversation!). We’ve also got a little trip to London planned (although I will be leaving M with her grandmas and grandpa for that) so there’s lots to look forward to! Not to mention, of course, that a certain young lady turns two this week! How has that come around so quickly? It feels like only a few months ago that she was as small as B is now…
