Living Arrows {2018} 34/53

Every week I join in with Living Arrows, a blog linky run by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name Living Arrows comes from a poem by Kahlil Gibran; “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth”, and each Monday I share a photo of M, and one of B, and a bit about what we’ve been up to the previous week.

Last week we were busy having lots of fun; we visited the park, the beach and the zoo! It has felt like we’ve really got into the swing of the summer holidays. After this coming week, Matthew will be getting back into work mode. It feels like just as we’re getting going, the holidays are about to be over. At least we’re making the most of him while he’s off work!

This week’s photo of M was taken on Wednesday morning when we were having fun in the garden. I set up a seaside tuff spot for M to play with, and she absolutely loved it! She spent over an hour making ‘mud pies’ (there was no mud involved!) and mixing, pouring and squishing the mixture of couscous, foaming soap and coloured ice. This photo was a bit of an outtake, really, as M moved from what she was doing, just as I was taking the shot. I love it, though, as you can see the pure joy on her face. It made taking the time to set up the activity completely worthwhile.

B’s photo is yet another milestone card. They seem to be coming around so quickly! Last week, B turned five months old. I swear she is growing at a much faster rate than M did! Just another month and we’ll be starting on B’s weaning journey. I find the whole weaning process quite stressful, but I’m excited that she’ll be a little way into it by the time Christmas dinner rolls around – we’ll be having to fit eight of us around the table this year!

B reaching five months also means that I have been breastfeeding for five whole months. I’m so pleased with how our feeding journey is going, and I’m looking forward to seeing how long we can keep it going for!

A weekly photo diary of my daughters' lives. This week, B turns five months old, and M has fun in the tuff spot.

I feel so bad as I haven’t got the tuff spot out for Kipper for ages… there never seems enough time. I am going to try and make a conscious effort after seeing Ms face. I swear the second goes much faster xx

That was the main reason I started my Pondering Playtime series – to make sure that I set up these activities for M. They don’t need to take too much effort x

It must be so hard with him being a teacher – our lives being ruled by term time and holidays. I know how much prep goes into every term with planning etc x

There is a lot of work done in the holidays, but I know we’re also fortunate that he has so much time off. It’s just a shame holidays are so expensive at those times! x

Thats a great photo you can see how much she genuinely love that. Totally agree with time going so much faster on the second I think too its because we are so busy! #livingarrows

It sounds like you’ve had a lovely week. You’re so good with all the activities you set up – I never do anything like that with my two! And how is B 5 months already, surely she was only just born! #LivingArrows

Neither of the children go to nursery yet, so I feel like it’s my job to give them some of the experiences they’d get if they did. I can’t believe how big B is already, either. It will be Christmas before we know it! x
