Ah, half term. I can’t believe it’s over! Little M had her first trip to the beach this week. In fact, we went twice! Well, I say her first trip to the beach. It was more her first trip on the beach as we’ve been to the seaside several times before, but only for walks along the promenade as it hasn’t quite been the weather for sitting on the sand.

This might account for the fact that Little M was terrified of the sand at Wells-next-the-sea on Thursday. Honestly, she wouldn’t even let me put her down on the rug we’d laid out! Hubby and I showed her how we could play in the sand, though, and she soon realised that it wasn’t, in fact, hot lava, and ended up having a lovely time!

She was still a little wary yesterday when we took a trip to Gorleston, but she settled into beach life a little more quickly that time and had a lovely time experimenting with the sand.

Both times that we went to the beach, we took our set of IKEA stacking cups. At £2 they’re an absolute bargain and make a great alternative to a traditional bucket and spade for little hands. Little M loves scooping and pouring the sand with them, and I used them to make miniature sandcastles, which M enjoyed knocking down.

It was lovely being about to whizz out to the coast whenever we felt like it this week. It’s just a shame that half term is now over and hubby is back to work today, and I’m working a couple of days this week too. Roll on the summer holidays!

It was such a lovely day. I expect we’ll go to the beach more and more as Little M gets older.

She looks so happy! I’m so glad she settled in and I hope she continues to love the beach each time she goes. Lovely photo x

Aww, she’s looking less and less like a little baby every week. We don’t go to the beach much, despite living near the coast – I remember taking Toby when he was just two and he hated the sand on his feet, he was only happy with his wellies on 🙂

Nooo don’t say that! She’s still my baby (or at least I’m claiming that until she’s walking, at the very earliest!) x
