Travelling to Southeast Asia with the Kids

*This is a collaborative post.

Travelling with children can be difficult at the best of times, especially when said travelling destination is as far away and as different as Southeast Asia. Yes, travelling to Southeast Asia with children can be difficult simply because children tend to get bored on long travelling journeys and they aren’t always necessarily open to experiencing and enjoying new cultures.

But, there are parts of Southeast Asia and things to do whilst in that part of the world that will force even the most stubborn of children enjoy themselves whilst there. To see some of these parts and and some of these things to do, make sure to read on.

Bali, Indonesia

Bali is just one of Indonesia’s many islands (there are 17,508 of them, you know), but it is the best for your children. Why is the best? Well, because it just has so much to offer them!

Something that it can offer them is the Waterbom Park, a water park located slap bang in the heart of the famous area of Kuta. And, what kid doesn’t love a good water park, really? In this particular one your kids can frolic around all day to their heart’s content and never be bored — just make sure that if they’re under the age of twelve, they must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Or, if your kids aren’t particularly fussed about getting wet then, fear not, as Bali still has plenty more to offer them, something else of which is the Treetop Adventure Park. In this park your kids will be able to do what kids do best: exert a load of energy having fun without showing any signs whatsoever of slowing down. And, you, yes you, as an adult can join in the fun as there are assault courses of varying difficulties and heights aplenty in this adventure park.

Or, if exerting energy really isn’t what gets your children excited then why not take them to a place where they can just look at things rather than, you know, run around and stuff. A few places in Bali that fit this bill down to a T are the Bali Marine Safari Park and the Bali National Zoo. In both of these places your children (and you) will be afforded the opportunity to learn all about the marine and land wildlife that call this part of Southeast Asia their home.

So, as you can see, there are plenty of things to do in Bali that will keep your kids entertained for weeks on end (if you do, in fact, head to Bali on a holiday that lasts for weeks on end).

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Now we head to Malaysia in our quest to find another of Southeast Asia’s jewels when it comes to children’s entertainment, Kuala Lumpur. And, if you’re serious about a family holiday in this part of the world, then the big KL is not to be missed!

It’s not to be missed, first and foremost, because this city is the home of the world famous Sunway Lagoon Theme Park. Yes, if you and your children are rather big on the old theme park experience, then this is the place to come. But, don’t mistake this theme park as just being any old theme park, no, because this is a park that combines both the theme and the water. Yes, on one half of Sunway Lagoon you will find exhilarating rollercoasters, and on the other you’ll find a fully functioning waterpark. If that’s not enough to keep the kids entertained for a whole day, at least, then what is?

But it’s not all rollercoasters and rides in Kuala Lumpur. No, this is a place that is also home to some of the most beautiful sights in the whole world, let alone in Southeast Asia. Yes, KL plays host to a number of brilliant things for you and the kids to see, one of which being the world’s oldest rainforest, Taman Negara. So, if you’re the type of parent that wants their children to see as many of the world’s great wonders as they can in their formative years, then this is certainly the place to bring them. And, upon seeing it, don’t be surprised if you and the kids love Kuala Lumpur that much that you and the other start to consider buying property in Malaysia and relocating the whole family out there! Okay, maybe not, but yours and your children’s reaction to this part of world will mean that you will definitely have no qualms in coming back again and again in order to visit it.

Singapore is a place to take the kids if you want to take them to Southeast Asia but at the same time don’t want them to experience too much of a culture shock. This is because Singapore is just about as Western a place as you can get in Southeast Asia, and that only helps to make it such a beautiful, crazy, entertaining place.

One of the biggest attractions you and the kids will find in Singapore is, in fact, is one of the biggest attractions in the whole wide world, Universal Studios. Here, as you probably already know or can probably already guess, your kids will be able to have hours upon hours of fun, even days upon days. And, whilst they do so, they will not be made to feel too far away from home because everything will be just like it is, well, back home.

Somewhere else in Singapore that will teach your kids a little bit more about this country and Southeast Asia as a whole much more than the Universal Studios will is the S.E.A. Aquarium. In this aquarium your children will be able to get up close and personal with over 100,000 species of marine wildlife, each of which calling Southeast Asia its true home both physically and spiritually.

So, as you can see, Southeast Asia truly does have what it takes to make itself the holiday of a lifetime for your children, even though it is so far away from their home!
